The transportation in Taipei is very convenient. There are 5 different lines of Metro leading to most of the famous spots and must-go places in Taipei. Each line has its own color. People can simply travel around Taipei city by taking public transportation. Let’s introduce few spots at one of the Metro line, Tamsui-Xinyi Line (red line)
Taipei Main Staton
Taipei Main Station is the center and the most important transfer spot in Taipei. It combined Subway, Railway and High Speed Railway. There is a food court on the second floor and it also connects the department store-Q square and the underground shopping mall.
Passengers can easily feed themselves or go shopping while waiting to transfer to their destination.
Taipei 101 & Xiangshan(Elephant Mountain)
As the representative of Taiwan, People can simply reach Taipei 101 by Metro. No matter the observatory at 89F or the skyline garden at 101F, you must not miss it. Taipei 101 is also a department store in the downtown shopping area. There are restaurants and stores gathering around.
After having lunch, give yourself an hour to have a walk on the elephant mountain which is only one station away from Taipei 101. You could experience the beautiful city view on it.
National Palace Museum
If you are a history fan, you must put the national palace museum on your schedule. Take the metro to MRT Shilin Station and transfer to the bus for about 15 minutes, and you will reach the museum. There are thousands of the collections; therefore It is easy to spend hours enjoying the historical beauty there.
After the time, there is no better schedule than taking the bus to Shilin night market where it is right next to MRT Jiantan station and grabbing some food to eat. What a wonderful day!
Tamsui Old Street
Tamsui is the destination of the Metro red line. Walking out the exit and you will find the famous Tamsui old street right next to it. The old street is along the Tamsui river. There are many local foods worth to try, such as fish crisps, and Agei, a deep-fried tofu pocket. Sitting on the ground or the chair and having the food with a riverside view is no doubt an enjoyable moment.
Tamsui also has many famous historical sites, such as Fort San Domingo(紅毛城),Hobe Fort(滬尾砲台) and so on. If you have the opportunity, you must arrange a day to walk around and relax while enjoying snacks and delicacies.
